Martin Rodriguez's Obituary
Mercedes — Martin Rodriguez, 67, passed away on February 3, 2026, at his home. He was born on January 5, 1959, and grew up in Mercedes, where he graduated from high school. As a young man, Martin labored in the aloe vera fields, learning the value of hard work early in life. Through dedication and perseverance, he worked his way into management, a role he held for the remainder of his career. In later years, Martin also took on a private contract helping to maintain the border wall.
Martin loved gathering with family and friends for a good barbecue, always with his favorite music playing in the background. He took pride in working in the yard and landscaping, finding satisfaction in keeping things just right. When it was time to relax, he enjoyed classic TV shows like The Carol Burnett Show and Hogan’s Heroes, along with watching wrestling. Martin was also an avid collector who loved antiques and thrift shopping, always on the lookout for rare finds and good deals.
Family time was especially important to Martin. He enjoyed planning family game nights, spending days at South Padre Island, or making trips to Progreso. He made sure holidays like New Year’s and the Fourth of July were filled with laughter, joy, and excitement—memories his family will forever cherish.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Pilar Rodriguez and Maria Gonzalez, and his siblings, Pilar Rodriguez, Jose Angel Rodriguez, Velma Rodriguez, and Clarissa Rodriguez.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lucila; his daughters, Nidia Rodriguez (Arturo Torres), Rosa Rodriguez, and Mayra Graham (John); his siblings, Richard Rodriguez (Irma), Esteban Rodriguez, Dora Rodriguez, and Eddie Rodriguez; his grandchildren, Caleb, Ellie, Jasmine, Leopoldo, Nicolas, and Diana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
