Mickey Villalon's Obituary
Weslaco – Mickey Villalon, 67, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at his home. He was born on August 14, 1958, in Edinburg, Texas, to Pedro and Josefa (Rangel) Villalon.
After losing both of his parents at a young age, Mickey became an orphan, an experience that deeply shaped his life. Through that early loss, he and his siblings formed an unbreakable bond. Learning to navigate grief as a child gave Mickey a rare depth of compassion—one he would later draw upon to guide, support, and mend the hearts of students who needed it most.
Mickey grew up in Weslaco, where he played football for the Weslaco Panthers and remained a loyal fan throughout his life. His pride in his hometown and school never faded.
He dedicated twenty-two years of service to the Weslaco Independent School District, leaving a lasting impact on countless students. Mickey took a genuine interest in the lives of the children he worked with, particularly those who were struggling. His philosophy was simple: love, encourage, and believe in them. Through this approach, he helped steer many young lives onto better paths, earning their respect, trust, and lasting gratitude.
Mickey loved the outdoors—whether fishing, watching a game, spending a day at the beach, or simply enjoying nature. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he was a proud Dallas Cowboys fan. He also enjoyed barbecuing and cooking for friends and family and cherished traveling to Dallas to visit loved ones.
Known for his sense of style, Mickey was always well-dressed and never missed an opportunity to go dancing. Tejano music was one of his greatest joys and often filled the background of gatherings with family and friends.
Mickey was known for his kind heart and warm spirit. His smile could light up any room, and his compassion left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Josefa Villalon, and his siblings, Guadalupe Farias, Marta Villalon Cantu, Gilberto Villalon, and Santos Bailey.
Mickey is survived by his children, Mickey Villalon Jr. (Leticia) and Nicole J. Villalon; his grandchildren, Kane Villalon, Ana Villalon, Laelah Avalos, and Alex Avalos; his great-grandchildren, C.J., Ava, and Noah Mendez; his siblings, Luisa V. Vela, Petra V. Gonzalez, Benigno Villalon (Emma), Reynaldo Villalon, and David Villalon; his brother-in-law, Arturo Farias (Guadalupe †); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
