Mission-Modesto Saavedra, born on July 29, 1939, in Guanajuato, Mexico, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024, at Windsor Arbor View in Edinburg. He was a dedicated family man known for his relentless work ethic and profound love for his wife and their seventeen children.
Throughout his life, Modesto embodied the spirit of hard work. He spent many years in the construction industry, proudly building and remodeling houses with great skill and diligence. His tireless efforts were fueled by his desire to provide for his family and his aspiration to bring them all to the United States, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to their well-being and future.
In addition to his professional achievements, Modesto cherished the simple joys of life. He enjoyed gathering around the table with loved ones, particularly relishing the taste of caldo de pollo and enjoying a nice cold beer. His appreciation for family meals reflected his belief in togetherness and the importance of nurturing familial bonds.
Those who knew Modesto will remember him for his significant contributions as a family provider and his kind and warm personality. He demonstrated a genuine affection for his family that resonated deeply within the hearts of those who experienced his love. Modesto was a child of God and a believer in Jesus Christ.
Modesto is preceded in death by his parents, Bernardino and Esperanza (Tirado) Saavedra, and daughter, Letty Saavedra.
He is survived by his children, Ruben Saavedra (Maria), Carolina Mora, Silvia Moncada (Elgin), Edith Lule (Juan Guerrero), Luis Saavedra, Jesse “Jesus” Saavedra (Martha), Esmeralda Saavedra, Luz Maria Saavedra, Manuel Saavedra, Juan Ramon Saavedra, Jon Saavedra, Ramiro Saavedra, and Miguel Saavedra (Maria), numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
As we honor the life and legacy of Modesto, we reflect on the values he instilled in his family and the lasting impact he made in both their lives and the community. His legacy will forever be cherished by those who loved him dearly.
