Nancy Clayton
To the Dargel Family,
I just found out about Nell's passing this morning. I'm very sad to hear about Nell. She was my mother's best friend growing up in Weslaco. My mother, Yuval King Clayton was born in 1919 in Weslaco (first baby of Weslaco). She passed away October 11, 2011. Nell made a special effort to come to Mama's funeral. That meant so very much to me.
My whole life I've heard wonderful stories about Nell and my mother and their days attending Weslaco High School and graduating in the class of 1937. The last time I took Mama home to Weslaco, in spring of 2004, we had supper with Nell. What a time those two had talking and laughing - just like they were back in high school again! Then, the last four years of my mother's life, when she was in a Kerrville nursing home, Mama would have me call Nell for a "short chat" (as she put it). Many times, Nell would call Mama. Those calls were such a blessing. My mother always felt better after talking with her best friend.
You all are in my prayers.
Love, Nancy Clayton (daughter of Yuval King Clayton, and granddaughter of O.B. and Tessie Ann King of Weslaco)
