My years of growing up have been spent with some of the most incredible people who have inspired me to make the most of my life every day. My Uncle Otis was one of those people. His work ethic, faith and love of family paved the way for many of us. He followed his passion to be an educator of children, to inspire them to do things they never thought possible. His teaching went well beyond the classroom setting. It was evident in everyday life events. Traveling, reading, working with flowers, growing vegetables in the garden, being a butcher, being a student himself, he always strived to become more educated. He loved life and the people in it. He always seemed to find the good in people and never gave up on them.
Over the years Uncle Otis was the family movie maker. He took reels and reels of film at family gatherings and special events. Some of the family mainly my father and Uncle Duane would get after him to shut the bright light off. Those hours of film became such a family treasure as Jenn and Craig converted them to DVDS for everyone to enjoy for years to come.
Uncle Otis was blessed to find true love twice in his lifetime. First with my Aunt Phyllis who was also an educator. They were blessed with two beautiful daughter whom they raised with pride, instilling family values and work ethic, love and faith deep within them. Upon my aunt’s passing my uncle remarried a wonderful lady who became Aunt Judy. She was a special person as well. They made many memories and shared a great life together. Judy took such good care of Uncle Otis in his last years and for that the entire family is forever grateful.
Rest in peace now, my sweet Uncle Otis. You will be extremely missed by so many, but we all know that this is not goodbye, this is until we see you again.
God has made a place for you, as he welcomes you into his kingdom, and you have earned your crown. God would say “Well done my faithful child, well done.â€
