Weslaco

Weslaco- Patsy R. Pemelton, a beloved member of the Weslaco community and a dedicated public servant, passed away peacefully at her home in Weslaco on December 10, 2023. She was reunited with her husband, Tommy, on his birthday. Patsy was born to Lloyd and Ruth Reiter on November 5, 1946, in Weslaco, Texas.

In 1962, Patsy married her soulmate, Tommy Wayne Pemelton. She and Tommy raised three children. Patsy was a full-time homemaker and an excellent cook. She kept an organized home and expected nothing less than 110% from her children.

When the kids were old enough, Patsy entered the workforce. She started as a meter maid for the City of Weslaco. Soon after, in 1977, Patsy went to work for Weslaco Police Department as a dispatcher. Patsy graduated from the Police Academy and became a certified officer in 1983. For twenty-five years, she tirelessly served and protected her community. Her drive and determination enabled her to leave an indelible mark as a Master Peace Officer, Crime Scene Investigator, Fingerprint Expert Examiner, and Pistol Expert. Patsy's commitment to her work was unparalleled, earning her the utmost respect from colleagues and praise from those she served. Patsy had an unwavering dedication to her profession. Her passion was so contagious that after Tommy retired, he joined his wife and started a second career as a Police Officer. Soon after, their son Billy would join, and Weslaco was blessed with three Pemeltons serving at once.

Patsy became known for her impeccable attention to detail. Colleagues, friends, and her children knew that if you were on time in Patsy's eyes, you were already late – she was always on Lombardi time. Her sharp memory was legendary among her peers; she could recall even the minutest details from past cases.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Patsy's vibrant personality endeared her to friends and family alike. She loved her three precious dogs, Sammy, Cotton, and Candy, and their companionship brought her great joy. In her free time, Patsy enjoyed fishing and often reminisced about the beautiful moments she shared with her husband, Tommy, when they frequented the Arroyo together.

She loved the risk and excitement of a poker table and was an avid enthusiast of metal detecting adventures, pursuing hidden treasures during weekends became a cherished pastime for Patsy. Her talents did not end there – she also had a green thumb and spent countless hours working in her yard growing plants and beautiful flowers.

The family remained a priority for Patsy. Sundays meant barbecue for family gatherings where everyone eagerly awaited sampling Patsy's mouthwatering creations. She also believed in God and prayed often.

Patsy will forever be remembered for her kind heart and selfless nature. She possessed an incredible work ethic while maintaining a compassionate spirit. Her dedication to her family was evident in every aspect of her life.
