I remember as a child taking a lot of road trips with my entire family. We were a very humble family but what we lacked in money, we made up in love. I dont know how they afforded it but we always took summer vacations. Mostly to México.
Our parents, especially Papi believed that education was the key to breaking the poverty cycle. It must have been graved into our heads because of 8 kids, 4 are school teachers. His belief in education will be passed on for generations to come.
I was daughter number six. I never got to go to school in México. However, Papi taught me to read and write in Spanish. He would get school books from México and teach us. He did this in our kitchen after having worked a long day as a welder. Anything for his family.
