Shirley Jodie Majors

April 19, 1936 — July 25, 2023

Shirley Joan “Jodie” Majors (Johnson) has gone to rejoice with Jesus and join many of her loved ones who went before her.

Jodie loved rain, trains, thunder, and the color green.

She was faithful to the Lord and dedicated to her family. She was a great example to her children and grandchildren of what it means to be hardworking, self-sacrificing, kind, and loving. We were repeatedly in awe of her strength.

She was a patient mentor, a great listener, and a beautiful friend who had a natural-born talent for lifting others’ spirits.

She is still well-known around Weslaco for her work in initiating the HOSTS program within WISD and for being recognized with a prestigious award for her leadership skills.

One of her greatest joys in recent years was reading books and singing songs with her two great-granddaughters.

We are finding comfort in knowing she is reunited in Heaven with her grandparents (William Johnson, Annie Allen) + (Martin Tankersley, Sarah Sellers), her parents (Charlie Johnson, Elizabeth Tankersley), her four older siblings (Jewel, Herschel, Don, Jean), her beloved nephew, Herman, who was very much a brother to her, her devoted husband Robert “Bob” Majors, her parents-in-law whom she loved dearly, Dennis Majors and Roberta Wartchow, and her precious daughter, Julie.

She is proudly survived by her son Rex (wife Jennifer Keller; children Ryan, Megan, Jake), Russ (wife Karen Cosenza; children Lauren, Reese), and granddaughter Katherine (husband Ovidio; daughters Augustina, Sienna).
