WHS Math Department purchased the Sentiments of Serenity Spray for the family of Steven Storhoff.
"In the soft springtime the stars were glorious in our eyes each night before we fell asleep."
When you walk east beyond the mesquite tree
past the headlights moving south towards the railroad
track. A briefcase in hand. With a nearing sundown
framing Pike, signaling the last bell two hours prior.
Do you consider the hills of Donnybrook, rolling
green and dotted sparse by crossroads
delaying the lone pronghorn in search of water?
Or the Scandia Valley Church peeling white,
a steeple puncturing the Dakota sky,
that same arch of sun blessed by the Sioux.
Then, the blue expanse dimming orange, a vision
quest of windmills, traditional and wood and good
now mere silhouettes reaching for Polaris,
glorifying the anchor of the northern firmament.
Where you first knew of slopes as constellations.
Here too, on northern banks of the Rio Grande
there are roads and railroad ways
lining fields of rural gold. The silos of Fargo
have found a home, the same sunset gracing them
grand with timeless regality.
The silos speak here too.
They blur with gulf heat.
They stand in splendor.
We look up and see all falling
beneath the curve to the horizon.
We see the rise over the run, the incline home.
Thought and prayers go out to his family. Mr. Storhoff was a great teacher. He touched the lives of many students in Weslaco ISD. He will be missed !!
Mr. Storhoff will be dearly missed by all that knew him. He would encourage his students and stay late to help them. He was an asset to WHS and will be irreplaceable. Rest in peace, Mr. Storhoff.
