    Natividad Trevino

    November 3, 1943 - July 19, 2020

Weslaco- Natividad Treviño, 76, passed away on Sunday, July 19th, 2020 at McAllen Medical Center. She was born on November 3, 1943 to Gervacio and Paulita Valdez in Rancho Buenos Aires, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Natividad was the oldest of seven children. She met the love of her life, Fernando Treviño, as a young girl in Mexico. The couple married in 1959 and had seven children. Mrs. Trevino raised the children, and Fernando commuted back and forth from the United States. He was finally able to bring her and their children to Weslaco around 1980, and the family was complete. They migrated up North for income. Her children always remember the fun stops on their way back and forth. They were a great team and even decided to have baby number eight, Nati, when Natividad was forty-one years old. Sadly, Fernando passed away from cancer in 1986, and young Nati had a tragic death in 1991. The family cherishes that short time they had as a complete family and the precious memories they shared together. Mrs. Trevino remained strong because that was the type of woman she was, a pillar of strength. She loved to go out to restaurants, shopping, and on road trips. She had a green thumb and enjoyed working in her yard, loving on her plants and especially her roses. In recent years, Natividad was glued to Facebook because that was how she kept up with her growing family. She realized she too had to get with the times. By far, her greatest joy was her family, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. The family often gathered together for barbecues, but their favorite holiday was Thanksgiving. Mrs. Trevino would always host a feast fit for a king. She loved playing Sudoku, Connect Four, and Uno with her grandchildren. She will be remembered fondly for being a God-fearing woman. She wasn’t particular; any religion would do. As long as they worshipped God, she was there. Her children and anyone who knew her can affirm that her favorite color was purple, and the scent of lavender will always remind her loved ones of their sweet mom. The matriarch of this family was not only loving but enjoyed doting on her littlest ones, her great grandchildren. Her nicknames from these little ones were: “Emma Tiva,” “Grandma Tiva,” “Welita Tiva,”or simply but lovingly “Welita.” Indeed, her biggest joy was seeing her family tree continue to grow. She was compassionate, straightforward, and honest. She was the best mother and grandmother a family could ask for. Natividad is preceded in death by her parents, Gervacio and Paulita Valdez, husband, Fernando Treviño, baby Juanita and baby Graciela, son, Nati Treviño. She is survived by her brothers: Inocencio Valdez, Ben Valdez (Delfina), sisters: Aurora Estrada (Irineo), Josefina Quintero (Antonio), Teresa Rodriguez (Israel), Guadalupe Rodriguez (Benito), children: Juan Treviño (Rosa), Jose Manuel Treviño, Fernando Treviño Jr. (Francisca), daughters, Rosie Marie Treviño (Alberto Dimas), Cristina Cardenas (Javier), Lisa Castillo (Mike), and Graciela Treviño, grandchildren: Adriana Pacheco (Lorenzo Olmeda), Agustin Pacheco Jr (Janet Sifuentes), Stephanie Lopez (Fabian), Rebecca Hernandez (Frankie) Kayla Trevino (Adam Vallejo), Jonathan Trevino, Joshua Trevino, Javier Cardenas, Jr., (Kayla), Olivia Cárdenas (Adan), Elizabeth Cardenas, Jose Luis Cardenas (Rocio), Susana Cardenas (Alonso Charles), Valeria Trevino (Hector Silva), Miriam Silva (Michael),Gabriela Trevino (Bianca Acosta), Claudia Y.
